Man, 33, nabbed with firearms in Bayelsa

The police in Bayelsa State have arrested a 33-year-old suspect in possession of fire arm while dressed in the uniform the Peace Corps of Nigeria.

A statement by the police spokesperson in the state, DSP Asinim Butswat, said Seiyefa Okorie, was a suspected criminal who confessed to have hid under the guise of the Peace Corps of Nigeria. He said he was arrested yesterday through the renewed synergy between the Bayelsa State Police Command and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the State.

“During a coordinated raid of a criminal hideout at Amarata axis of Yenagoa, the security operatives arrested one Seiyefa Okorie ‘m’ 33 years, a member of the proscribed Peace Corps of Nigeria and recovered a locally made pistol from the suspect.

The suspect was arrested fully dressed in Peace Corps T-shirt and was with the proscribed organization’s Identity card. The suspect confessed that he peddles drugs and robbed innocent persons in Yenagoa and environs. Investigation is ongoing”, Butswat said.
